WHISKEYTOWN is a series of watercolors created in November 2014 as a National Park Services Artist-in-Residence at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area near Redding California. I spent the two-week residency hiking, taking photographs and painting while living in the park near Whiskeytown Lake, located in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest near Redding California. The accompanying zine compiles the watercolors, photographs, video stills, casual journaling and a Thanksgiving email exchange with my mother to capture the solitary experience living in the artist cabin and in a nature transitioning from late-fall to early-winter.
